CFA Review Information

The Financial Analysts Society of San Diego has offered a 20 week Review Course for CFA® Level I and Level II candidates for a number of years. This year’s course began on January 10th with the last session scheduled for May 23rd. The CFA® examinations for all area candidates will be given on Saturday, June 2nd. There are 33 Level I and 8 Level II candidates enrolled in the review courses in progress.

Each course uses videotapes of the live review course created and taught by the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts in conjunction with the University of Southern California Department of Finance and Business Economics*. The San Diego course is for those who would benefit from audio/visual instruction but cannot easily commute to Los Angeles or Orange County for the live presentations.

The taped USC/LASFA review courses combine the necessary tools and concepts that apply to investment valuation and portfolio management. The instructors are drawn from practicing CFA® charter holders with 5 to 30 years of industry experience and PhD’s from USC, CSU Long Beach and CSU Northridge. Each tape is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes in length. There are about 50 hours of total taped teaching time over the 20-week program. Handouts in support of each session are provided at the beginning of or prior to each session.

The cost of each 2001 review course was $375 per person if registration was completed by December 31, 2000. Registration after December 31st cost $425.

Please join the Financial Analysts Society of San Diego on December 12, 2001, at the La Jolla Marriott for a reception to introduce San Diego area CFA Candidates to the society and to the CFA Review program. The reception will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and will be an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow candidates, regular society members, and to learn more about the review program from people who have taken the course in the past. Please check this page and the event calendar regularly for more information.
