The Financial Analysts Society of San Diego

The Financial Analysts Society of San Diego is offering 20-week review courses for CFA® Level I and Level II candidates. An 18-week Level III course will also be offered if there is sufficient demand. These courses will use videotapes of live review courses created and taught by the Los Angeles Society of Financial Analysts in conjunction with the University of Southern California Department of Finance and Business Economics. The San Diego courses are for those who would benefit from audio/visual instruction but cannot easily commute to Los Angeles or Orange County for the live presentations.

The taped USC/LASFA review courses combine the necessary tools and concepts that apply to investment valuation and portfolio management. The instructors are drawn from practicing CFA® charter holders with 5 to 30 years of industry experience and PhD’s from USC, CSU Long Beach and CSU Northridge. Each tape for Level I and Level II is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes in length. There will be about 50 hours of total taped teaching time over the 20-week program. Handouts in support of each session will be provided at the beginning of the session. The Level III tapes are expected to be 2 hours in length for 18 sessions.

The San Diego Level I and Level II review courses are scheduled on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 PM – 8:30PM beginning on January 9, 2002 and concluding on May 29, 2002. A training room and conference room have been reserved for these sessions at the Union Bank Building, 530 “B” Street, in downtown San Diego. A conference room for the Level III course will be reserved when five candidates are enrolled.

The cost of each course is $375 per person if registration is completed by December 12, 2001. The cost will increase to $425 for enrollment after December 12. The training room can accommodate about 30 Level I candidates and the conference room can accommodate about 25 Level II candidates. Enrollment acceptance will be on a first come, first served basis. Either review course may be canceled for lack of sufficient participants.
